Dozens of deaths in Beijing as a result of heavy rains and floods
The authorities in the Chinese capital, Beijing, announced today (Tuesday) that heavy rains and floods killed 30 people in the city, bringing the death toll in the area as a result of storms to at least 34.
The city government stated that 28 people were killed in the severely affected Maiti region, and two other people in the Yancheng area, both of which are located on the outskirts of the city away from the center of Beijing.
An additional heavy rains fell in the area during the night. The statement stated that more than 80,000 people were transferred to safe places in Beijing, including about 17,000 in the Mayon region.

In the neighboring province of Lenbing in Khubi Province, a landslide had killed 4 people, and 8 others are still missing, according to Monday reports.
A resident of the country -backed newspaper, backed by the country, told the state, that there were no contacts, and he was unable to communicate with his relatives.
The city indicated that the storms resulted in more than 16 centimeters of rain on average by midnight on Tuesday, while two countries in Mayon recorded 54 centimeters of rain.
The Mayon authorities have launched water from one of the tanks that reached its highest level since its establishment in 1959, warning the residents not to approach the rivers due to the high water level and expected more heavy rains.

On Monday, Chinese head of State Lee Qiang said that the floods and heavy rains in Mayon resulted in “severe human losses” and called for the intensification of rescue efforts, according to the «Xinhua» news agency.
Storms caused the power outage from more than 130 villages in Beijing, destroying the lines of communication, and damaged more than 30 sectors of roads.
Beijing and Waghabi had suffered severe floods in 2023.
