Sheikh Laith Al -Balous, one of the spiritual leaders in the province of As -Suwayda, in southern Syria, who leads several armed factions that fall within what is known as “the added of the dignity”, said that the reason for the bloody events that the Druze province witnessed is the acquisition of a party to the sect’s decision and exclusion of others, during discussions with the American Senate Foreign Relations Committee, wanted to know the truth of what was going on in the province that witnessed bloody events during which he was killed Hundreds, and also focused on “who bears responsibility.”

In statements to Asharq Al -Awsat, Al -Balous stated that the talks took place with the American Senate Foreign Relations Committee – the office of the Senator James Rich committee, and the Senator Jin Shaheen, a member of the Senator Jin Shaheen, through the application of “Zoom”, and the meeting is pleased with Dr. Bakr Ghobeis, a member of the “Citizens for America, safe” organization.

Earlier this month, fierce clashes and bloody violence erupted in the endosperm between the people of the Druze community and a local Bedouin tribes, against the backdrop of mutual kidnappings, and the Syrian government intervened to extend its influence and resolve the conflict, and tried to deploy security forces in the countryside of the province and the city of As -Suwayda, but this was rejected by the spiritual president of the Druze community, Sheikh Hikmat Al -Hijri, and local armed factions Facing them, violent clashes took place between the two sides, which were accompanied by the intervention of Israel by targeting government forces in the province and several areas in Daraa, the Staff Building and the Ocean of the Presidential Palace in Damascus, claiming that it was working to protect the Druze.

The Druze leader explained that the talks took place on the file of the endosperm governorate, specifically in terms of the humanitarian and security situation and the implications of the conflict between the spectrum of society: “We emphasized in our conversation that the blood that is buried in the mountain is rejected in all forms, and we discussed the necessity of protecting civilians and putting an end to chaos and chaos, and we asked that work to form an independent human rights committee to document violations and protect the right to life and dignity for every human being As -Suwayda.

He added: “They wanted to hear from the people of the region directly about the reality of what is going on away from the fabricated accounts and confused reports, and their focus was on those who bear responsibility, what people are the demands, and how the stability of the situation can be supported humanly and politically.” He continued: «We explained to them that the situation is not as it is depicted in the media, but there is a party that captured the sect’s decision and the most exclusive of others, which led to chaos and blood, and we said to them frankly: We are not agents of anyone, but we are children of dignity, and we are keen on As -Suwayda from our keenness on Syria.

“I did not leave the endosperm despite the threats.”

Al -Balous stressed that “he did not leave the endosperm in the critical days, and he was always present, both directly or through his daily communication with the people and with events and with patriots who work silently to protect people, adding:“ And if I was absent, the goal is coordination and protection and not escaping, many know my positions and know that I did not compromise on blood or on dignity. ”

Asharq Al -Awsat asked Al -Balous, if there was a danger to his life during the events of As -Suwayda .. from where did he come from? He replied: «Yes, at a certain moment there is a clear threat after it became clear to some of the influential people that the voice of the mind is threatening their interests, and I have received direct and indirect threats from groups linked to gangs and gunmen that we know their dependence, and where to take its decision. They stole our homes, burned them, infringers on property, and infringing on the sanctity of the burial of the father of the martyr Sheikh Abu Fahd Waheed Al -Balous, in addition to burning its addition.

Al -Balous concluded his statement by saying: “I am there. We will not abandon our land and our dignity, and we seek to clarify the bitter truth of our people and our people, and people have heard the truth and knew who wanted sedition and who sought to keep them hope.

The remnants and merchants of “Captagon”

In his publications on the talks, Dr. Ghobeis explained, in his account on the X platform, that the discussion during the meeting revolves around the kidnapping of the war and peace decision of the Druze community by a small group. He explained that Al -Balous revealed to the committee that there are many officers of the former Bashar al -Assad regime and the “Captagon” merchants between the militias fighting government forces and committing violations.

Then the government forces withdrew from the city of As -Suwayda, and were stationed in the cities, towns and villages surrounding them.

These events resulted in the killing of hundreds of civilians, Syrian security forces, and domestic domestic factions fighters, and the evacuation of thousands of Sunni Bedouin tribes to Daraa.

Different reference and factions

The Druze Muslim Druze House in Syria “is the supreme religious authority of the Druze community, and it includes the elders of the three sect, and they are: Sheikh Yusuf Jarbou, Sheikh Hamoud Al -Hinnawi and Sheikh Hikmat Al -Hijri. While Al -Hijri is the spiritual head of the sect.

Since the Syrian change on the eighth of last December, a variation appeared in the positions between the three minds of the mind towards the new Syrian authorities; While Al -Hijri refuses to enter the army and government security forces to the province, and directs harsh criticism of the government, and demands international intervention, under the pretext of protecting the endosperm, the positions of Jarbou and Al -Hinnawi were the necessity of understanding with the government, preserving the channels of communication with it, and extending the state control over As -Suwayda.

The parking positions of the Balous, who leads several armed factions that fall within what is known as the “added of the dignity” with the positions of the leader of the “Ahrar Jabal Al -Arab” faction, Suleiman Abdel Baqi, and the positions of Jarbou and Al -Hinnawi. Laith Al -Balous is led by the factions affiliated with the “added of dignity”, and among those factions is the “Men of Dignity Movement” led by Yahya Al -Hajjar, but Al -Hajjar’s position towards the events in As -Suwayda is different from the position of Al -Balous, which is closer to the Hijri position.

On the other hand, other local factions are taken in As -Suwayda, including: “Al -Jabal District” and “The Military Council in As -Suwayda”, opposing positions of the government and approaching the Hijri position.

It is noteworthy that before the bloody events in As -Suwayda, there were several times that agreements between religious, political and social references in the province stipulated the return of state institutions to the province, but Al -Hijri and a number of local factions were rejecting them.
