On Sunday, the team of the “Saudi Program for Completed Twins” began in the separation of the Syrian twin “Celine and Eileen”, at King Abdullah Specialist Hospital for Children in the capital, Riyadh, in implementation of the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and a medical staff consisting of consultants and specialists, nursing and technicians from anesthesia and nerve surgeries, children, children, and other supporters participate in the process.
A consultant pediatric surgery, Dr. Mohamed Al -Namshan, said, in a statement to Al -Akhbariya channel from inside the operating room, that the stages of the operation are prohibited according to an integrated medical plan, and in a high coordination between the surgical team that includes a group of specialized Saudi doctors.
The spokesman for the King Salman Relief Center, Dr. Samer Al -Jutaili, said: “The process carries with it a lot of hope and pain, and it is part of the march of the humanity of the Kingdom in extending a helping hand to the needy, with continuous support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and His Highness the Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman.”
Al -Jutaili added that the procedures are running smoothly, thanks to the great support from the leadership; What contributed to the high number of sovereign twins that were successfully dealt with within the Saudi program to separate the Siamese twins, noting that the Kingdom has established its global position in this delicate humanitarian field.
For his part, the anesthesia consultant, Dr. Nizar Al -Zghibi, told Al -Ikhbariya that the situation of the attached Syrian twin “Celine and Eileen” is stable after the end of the beginning of the anesthesia stage, and with the end of the first stage and the start of the second stage of the operation.
This operation is one of the most prominent surgical tasks within the program, and it is expected to take about 9 hours, with the participation of a medical team exceeding 30 specialists between surgery, anesthesia and nursing.
This is the 66th case in the history of the program, which evaluated 150 cases of 27 countries during his career, which spanned about 35 years, including 45 Saudi twins. The program was able to successfully separate 64 cases, and the last operation No. 16 of the Saudi twins, who have been separated so far.
Dr. Abdullah Al -Rabiah, the general supervisor of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, the head of the team, indicated that the program continues to develop its treatment and research programs, and to update them according to the latest findings of the science, as well as transferring accumulated experiences and knowledge to medical cadres inside and outside Saudi Arabia, in a way that ensures the sustainability of the impact and expanding the circle of beneficiaries.
He stressed that the continuous successes achieved by the program reflects the Saudi excellence in this precise field, and enhances the country’s position as a global center for medical leadership in the separation of adherent twins and other vital specialties.
