The World Health Organization warned, on Sunday, that malnutrition in the Gaza Strip reached “levels that warn of danger”, noting that the “deliberate ban” of aid killed many, and it could have been avoided.
The organization added, in a statement: “The Gaza Strip is witnessing a serious malnutrition, which was characterized by a sharp rise in the number of deaths in July.”
The organization indicated that among the 74 cases of registered death linked to malnutrition in 2025, 63 cases occurred in July, including 24 children under the age of five, another over 5 years old and 38 adults.
And she continued: “The death of most of these people was announced upon their arrival in health facilities, or they died after that, and their bodies appeared clear signs of severe wasting.”
She stressed that “it is still possible to avoid the crisis completely. Where the deliberate ban and delay in the arrival of widespread food, health and humanitarian aid led to heavy loss of life.
The organization quoted its partners in the Global Nutrition Group that nearly a child every 5 under the age of five in Gaza City is now suffering from severe malnutrition.
She added that the percentage of children between the ages of 6 and 59 months and suffer from acute malnutrition has multiplied 3 times since June in the city, which makes it the most affected area in the Palestinian sector.
She pointed out that these rates have doubled in Khan Yunis and central Gaza in less than a month.
The organization suggested that “these numbers be less than reality due to the severe security restrictions, which prevent many families from reaching health facilities.”
The organization stressed that “this flow must remain continuous and without obstacles to supporting recovery and preventing further deterioration.”
