Initially, Geagea answers in an interview with Asharq Al -Awsat about the most frequently traded question in Lebanon, which is what is waiting for Lebanon from a summer that may be hot in light of talking about the end of the American deadline on the first of August (August) to start the process of restricting weapons in the hands of the state? He said that he does not know for sure whether the next summer is “hot in the traditional sense, that is, a widespread Israeli war, or a wider military escalation … but what is certain is that if we stay like this we will be in front of a bad summer.”

He adds: “The ceasefire agreement that Lebanon signed in November 2024 includes the inventory of all weapons to the hands of state agencies. We had a 120 -day deadline to implement it. The agreement exclusively defined the devices that could carry weapons from the army to the municipal guards. Some people forget this aspect and talk about Israel’s infringements and the survival of its army in the seven points (occupied in southern Lebanon) and others, and this is an achievement. Today, with our own law, we cannot turn to this enemy. But we can collect the strengths that help us in that. We have seen where slogans and speeches brought us. ”

He continues: «Now you see the whole world pressure on Israel to stop the war in Gaza, while we do not hear one word from what you do in Lebanon. We have to gather strengths to turn on Israel, and we have external strengths that start with our relations with the Gulf states, foremost of which is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, all the way to the Western countries, led by America, through which we can stop Israeli attacks, and to get Israel out of our land and return to the normal situation in Lebanon.

Geagea takes on Lebanese officials, “their gray”, in dealing with this thorny and dangerous file. He says: “We are beating all the time by talking about Israel, but we do not do what we must do, and therefore we waste all opportunities for ourselves.”

He strongly objects to the “logic” that going to disarmament the party without its consent leads to the danger of the civil war, saying: “I completely oppose this logic. After all that happened, we did not act with the logic of the state, and nothing will change in Lebanon. I reject these words in whole and detailed. The President of the Republic (Joseph Aoun) was elected by a large majority, and the current government won twice confidence from the legitimate parliament. Lebanon’s friendships are in danger

Geagea warns against touching the friendships “that we gathered again by electing the President of the Republic and forming a new government.” He says: “These friends tell us the mouthful and in the media, as in closed rooms, the situation cannot continue this case.” He adds: “We are facing the danger that the friends of Lebanon will manage their backs, starting from the Gulf states, headed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the United States and with Europe this time.”

He points out that «France promised a conference to help Lebanon, but it has not yet set an appointment for it because of the American refusal, and that the conference scheduled in the fall may also not be held because the outside began to get bored of us, and from this unclear and unclear situation and the situation of the state and the state.

Hezbollah “Haratik”

Geagea asks: “Why does Hezbollah adhere to this“ Harakik ”(a Lebanese expression of the things that are not beneficial) that is with him? And to have another security organization parallel to the state’s security organization? ”

We are intensifying our contacts with most of the political forces represented in the government to issue a decision to ban all armed and security organizations. ”

Geagea refuses to “keep the situation as it is,” expressing his fear that it will lead to a minimum, to stop financing for international forces in southern Lebanon, or to stop financing for the Lebanese army.

“At the same time, there are Arab projects in Syria, the least of which are ten billion dollars, while here we are waiting for President Berri and the trips (American delegate Thomas) Barak.”

Geagea reiterates his rejection of the palace of this vital file to some officials without presenting it to the government, sarcastically from those who say that international negotiations are within the jurisdiction of the President of the Republic, stressing that this matter is “at the heart of the government’s responsibilities after Lebanon agreed to the ceasefire on the twenty -seventh of November 2024, and therefore here a constitutional violation happens.”

Harm from the West and the East

Geagea repeats that the party’s military organization is useless and only produces. He says: “This damage was the side of Israel and the West, and now it is from the east and Syria. He adds: “In Syria, almost every day, cells are discovered, most of which are provided with (Hezbollah) with weapons, so how will the position of the new Syrian authorities be?”

Geagea reduces the impact of “intimidation campaigns that take place in Lebanon, which is taking place in Syria.”

He says: “We judge things as we see and do not judge the intentions. What has happened so far raises fears from the new Syrian authorities?”

He continues: «We will not be able to judge the new Syrian authority based on its previous ideology. Since the arrival of Ahmed Al -Shara to the presidency of the Republic and until now, relations with Lebanon have not been pleased as it is necessary, but we have not witnessed any evil of them.

“It is the most important,” says Geagea. He says: “There are three very influential countries in the Syrian reality: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United States. Are these three countries and for various reasons that want to stabilize Lebanon or not?” He concludes that the process of “intimidation” is caused by the fact that “(Hezbollah) and the axis of reluctance want to collect all possible papers to adhere to the weapon.”

What are the fears that the new development in Syria will be reflected in extremism in Lebanon, as this is also a “returned matter”, according to Geagea, who says that “in the glory of the crisis previously, and in the presence of (ISIS) there is no extremism, so will it happen now?”

He adds: “The Lebanese people and the Sunnah of Lebanon are moderate, and the greatest evidence that what happened in the past did not show extremism with it and will not happen in the future, and that the Lebanese security services are watchful and control the situation and suppress any attempt before it happened.”
