A Palestinian activist was killed by settlers in the West Bank

The Palestinian Authority announced today (Monday) that an anti -Israeli occupation activist was killed in the West Bank by settlers, while the Israeli police, for its part, referred to an ongoing investigation, but without confirmation of a murder.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education said in a publication, that it “mourns the educational family, the martyr Al -Moby, the return of Muhammad Al -Hathalin, a teacher at the Al -Saraya Secondary School in the Education of Yatta.”

She added that the 31 -year -old teacher “rose by settlers today (Monday), while they were assaulting the village of Umm Al -Khair” near Hebron, in the south of the West Bank.

The Israeli police announced earlier that they had opened an investigation into the wake of “an accident that occurred near Carmel”, the settlement adjacent to the village of Umm Al -Khair.

The police said in its statement: β€œAn Israeli citizen was arrested at the scene, and then the police detained him to interrogate him (…). In the aftermath of the accident, a Palestinian was reported. The extent of his involvement (the Israeli detainee) is currently being investigated.

The dead man is one of the residents of the traveler of Yatta, south of the city of Hebron, and, along with his neighbors, contributed to highlighting the suffering of this region, which Israel announced a military zone.

After a long legal battle, the Israeli Supreme Court issued a ruling in this case in favor of the army, paving the way for the expulsion of the eight villages located in this region.

Al -Hathalin contributed to the documentary “No Land”, which won the Oscar after highlighting the Palestinian militant work in this region, according to Joal Abraham, who participated in the direction of this film.

According to Israeli media, the killing of the Hathalin was preceded by a verbal similarity between Palestinians and Israelis, followed by stones.

About 3 million Palestinians live in the West Bank, along with nearly half a million Israelis residing in settlements considered by international law illegal.

The pace of violence in the West Bank has risen since the war broke out in the Gaza Strip, following an unprecedented attack by Hamas on the southern Hebrew state on October 7, 2023.

At least 965 Palestinians, including gunmen and many civilians, were killed by Israeli soldiers or settlers, according to an enumeration conducted by the “French Press Agency” based on the statements of the Palestinian Authority.

According to official Israeli data, at least 36 Israelis, including civilians and soldiers, were killed in the West Bank, in Palestinian attacks or during Israeli military operations.
