The Museum of Antiquities Department of King Saud University has entered a group of bronze pieces bearing a purely classical Greek character, which comes from the Al -Faw Archaeological Village location in the southeast of Wadi Al -Dawasir Governorate, affiliated to the Riyadh region. This collection contains a piece of formula in the form of an immediate handle, each of the ends of both ends adorns a female face, surrounded by a thick tuft of woven hair. This dual face is distinguished by its sharp and disturbing features, and in fact Midoza, the woman whose outsumptive visionary is a stone, according to a novel from the inheritance of Greek myths, which echoed in the early Roman era, and reached the Arabian Peninsula.

The length of this handle is 17 centimeters and 16 centimeters wide, and it is in the form of a horses adorned by three rings held in the middle of the upper part of it, separated by two smaller slims, which are clearly limited. Two circular blocks of a circular pictorial engraving, each of which occupies a party from both sides. These two blocs look like two photographic sculptures that we have accomplished with high craftsmanship, and they represent two similar faces whose features are to the point of congruence. These features are feminine, and adopt the classic Greek example of drainage with its multiple tributaries. The cheeks are chunky, the nose is shed and prominent, characterized by two wide cavities at the bottom representing the nostrils. The mouth is applied, and it consists of two wide lips, separated by a sighted slit. The chin is promoted, topped with a vacuum dimproe that settles under the lip of the lower gap. Under this dimple, a prominent pellet appears between the bottom of the chin and the top of the neck, according to what is known in the classic art dictionary as “double chin”. The forehead is short and polarized, and it is bordered in the center, and they are attached to the attached, attached to the colors of the eyes, which form the center of gravity in this face, which are wide and open, and each of them is interrupted by a hollow pupil that is defined accurately. These two eyes are dominated by a severe emoji, mixing despondency, discontent and limit, and this character is reflected in the overall sculpted mold for this bronze piece. This face is surrounded by a wide strand of thick hair, similar to its twisted snakes. These tufts wrap around the forehead and cheeks, and they completely withhold the ears. The tip of the upper neck is seen in the middle of this wild forest, and a tape around it will be held around it in the middle, which is homogeneous.

This acute view contradicts the freshness of the female aspect, but this contradiction actually embodies the characteristic that Midoza was known in the ancient Greek world throughout the ages, and Midoza is the “garrison”, as its Greek name says, which is one of three sisters known as the Gurgon, and was born in the Book of First Genesis, according to the legends, i.e. The sacred Olympic, and they are the “terrifying” as their name indicates, and their feeling of snakes, and their looks are copying everyone who looks at them.

The lyric poet Bendarus Gorgonate states in the fifth century BC, describing the frightening snakes held around their heads. The Gurgon is three sisters, Sethno, Airlen, and Midoza “with the beautiful cheeks”, says the poet. The details of the story of Midoza changed and changed from one era and another, and it is proven that the hero Perseus, the son of the master of the gods Zeus of Princess Danai, the daughter of Akraisius, the king of Argos, faced death to eliminate her, and beheaded after he used his shield as a mirror to look at her inverted image without staring at it. The super hero carried the head of Midoza, put it in a mockery, and used it as a weapon to repel his enemies and overcome them, then gave him to the Athena Athena, so he attached him to her shield, and she became famous for this “terrible shield that is fluffing terror like the crown”, the bearer of the “giant, giant, formed of fear and panic”, as Homer described it in the fifth book.

Midoza’s faces in the art world are multiple with its multiple fields, and the oldest of what we have reached dating back to the fifth century AD. This face quickly turned into a totem that embodies the deterrent face, and spread widely in the Roman world, and reached the Kingdom of Nabataeans in the northern Arabian Peninsula, where its evidence was multiplied in its Petra capital. Outside Petra, this face appears on the location of the stone of Al -Ula Governorate in the Madinah area. This site contains a series of funerary concrete rooms in the rocks, which belongs to the Kingdom of Nabatea, represented by a group of 36 graves characterized by embossed decorative solution. Medusa’s face is attended in a single form on four façades of the graves, and this face is distinguished by its unpleasant composition, as it appears with two twisted snakes that are surrounded by both sides, according to a unique format.

On the other hand, the handle of the FAO village adopts the classic pure aesthetic, and is similar to its composition in terms of the method of stone Petra. This handle is likely to return to the first two centuries of the Gregorian period, and it is one of the classic bronze pieces of bronze pieces that all came out of the village of Al -Faw, and today it appears unique in the archaeological inheritance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
