Leading Lebanon with energy leads the agenda of Aoun’s visit to Algeria Arabausa

The Lebanese President, Joseph Aoun, stressed that “Algeria has never been late in supporting Lebanon, whether in international forums, or through direct field assistance,” noting that it was “always present alongside Lebanon in the most difficult circumstances.”

The Lebanese presidency account was conveyed on the “X” platform Aoun’s statement today (Tuesday), on the occasion of the visit he started to Algeria, which lasts for two days.

For its part, Aoun said that Aoun held with Algerian President Abdel Majid Taboun talks upon his arrival at the airport of the Algerian capital, without other details, while the Algerian presidency confirmed that he had singled out his guest with “a reception worthy of the position of brotherly relations between the two countries.”

The Algerian news website “Al -Khobar” wrote that Aoun’s visit “will allow discussing the energy file in the field of energy between the two countries, and a friendly and final treatment of an issue related to the Algerian (Sonatrach) company, which was linked to a contract with the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water since November 2005, to provide diesel fuel and fuel oil for the benefit of the Electricity of Lebanon,” noting that the project “has been disabled in its implementation in a year 2020; Because of the crisis of what is known as (adulterated fuel), in which intermediaries were involved, and before consultations were held on renewing the agreement.

The “Khobar” website pointed to the announcement of the Lebanese Ministry of Energy, last month, its desire to “the relationship of partnership with the institutions of the Algerian state, including (Sonatrach), and support the efforts of the Lebanese government to complete the course of reviving the partnership relationship, within the legal frameworks that sponsor the interests of the two countries.”

Lebanese newspapers confirmed that the visit includes the reconstruction files in Lebanon, especially in the aftermath of the recent Israeli war, and Algeria intends to provide preliminary financial assistance, ranging between 50 and 200 million dollars to rebuild public facilities, hospitals and schools, starting from the removal of the rubble, to the stages of reconstruction.

According to the same media sources, a number of cultural agreements will be signed, including the establishment of an Algerian -Lebanese cultural center in Beirut, and the promotion of cooperation between the TV of the two countries, in addition to providing technical and logistical support for Lebanon TV. It is also expected to sign educational agreements, which include expanding scholarships and discussing the possibility of creating a major cultural edifice in Beirut.

Algeria is expected to announce the resumption of flights to Beirut, after stopping; As a result of the recent Israeli military escalation, “in a move that reflects a tangible Algerian interest in Lebanon.”
