
Ghana 4-3 defeated South Africa with a penalty shootout after the end of the match time, with a 1-1 draw at Al-Arabi Al-Zouli Stadium in Casablanca, to win the third place in the African Nations Cup for Women held in Morocco.
The tournament concludes with the final match, Saturday, between Morocco and Nigeria on the Olympic stadium in Rabat.
South Africa, the title holder with a goal in the last seconds of the first half, scored by Nunala Matandi, taking advantage of a mistake from Ghana Centia Kunlan, who failed to deal with a ball back from the defense, to reach Mattandi and pay it low from outside the region to the net.
In the second half, Ghana tied in the 68th minute with a reverse goal, as the goalkeeper Andri Dlamini failed to confront the required form of a header from Doris Badua and directed the ball to its goal by mistake.
After the end of the original time, the two teams ruled to a penalty shootout, in which Ghana won 4-3.
The two teams met in the group stage, and South Africa won 2-0.
