American scientists measured the earthquake of 8.8 degrees, while the Russian Academy of Sciences estimated its power at 8.7 degrees, as it made it clear that it was the most powerful earthquake since 1952, and it was considered among the ten strongest earthquakes registered in the world, according to the American Institute of Geophysics.

According to Kraftchk, flood waves hit about one meter high, the coast of Japan overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Hawaii.
