Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, issued a federal decree to raise Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, to the rank of first team.
This came, according to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, in appreciation of his leadership and his career in government and defensive work.
This promotion comes about a year after the appointment of Sheikh Hamdan as Minister of Defense as part of the cabinet reshuffle that took place in July 2024, which witnessed his joining the federal government as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed II is a figure who takes over the portfolio of the Ministry of Defense in the history of the UAE, after his father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has held the position since the establishment of the state in 1971.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced in July 2024 the new ministerial formation, indicating that it came after consulting and blessing Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, as part of the continuous development efforts of the federal government structures, in order to enhance their readiness and interaction with future changes.
