Cambodia calls for a “immediate ceasefire” with Thailand Arabausa

The Cambodia Ambassador to the United Nations announced on Friday that his country wanted a “immediate ceasefire” with Thailand, after the two countries exchanged bloody strikes for the second consecutive day.

“I asked Cambodia to a immediate ceasefire – without conditions – and we also call for a peaceful solution to the dispute,” said Cambodia Cambodia Qiu Qio, after a closed meeting of a peaceful solution to the dispute, according to what was reported by the French Press Agency.

He added, “How can (Thai) accuse us, a small country with three times a younger army, and does not have an air force” to attack a “big neighbor.”

Kyu added that the Security Council called on the two parties to exercise “the utmost restraint and find a diplomatic solution. This is what we also call. ”

Thailand warned, on Friday, that violent confrontations along the border with Cambodia “may turn into a war”, before the Security Council meeting to discuss the clashes that led to the evacuation of about 140,000 Thai.

The border dispute between the two countries in Southeast Asia in the last two days has led to an unprecedented level of violence since 2011 with the participation of combat aircraft, tanks, soldiers on the ground and artillery shelling in various disputed areas.

The Thai military official, Abuchart, announced the provinces of Chathahaburi, and that “customary law is valid” in eight border provinces.

The Thai Ministry of Health reported that 15 people were killed, including a military and more than forty wounded from the Thai side, while Cambodian officials announced, on Saturday, that 12 new people were killed in the battles with Thailand.

And the Acting Thai Prime Minister Boomtam and Yogayahay warned that the border clashes with Cambodia “may turn into war”, explaining: “If the situation witnesses an escalation, it may turn into war, even if things are now limited to clashes.”

On Friday, the Thai Ministry of Health said that more than 138,000 civilians evacuated areas covered by clashes in the northeast of the country.

The two countries exchange accusations about those who initiated the shooting, while stressing the right of each of them to self -defense. Bangkok was accused of Bennah by targeting civil facilities, such as a hospital and a fuel station, which was denied by the Cambodian authorities on its part.

There has been a dispute between Cambodia and Thailand a long time ago about the demarcation of the border between them, which extends over more than 800 km and was threatened under agreements during the French occupation of Chinese India.
