America and China correspond to the extension of the commercial truce after the “Stockholm Marathon”

A few hours after the announcement of the extension of the commercial truce between Washington and Beijing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry expressed on Wednesday that the United States will work with China to enhance the sustainable development of bilateral relations, through dialogue and communication, after high -level trade talks in Sweden.

A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Jiakon, said in a periodic press conference, in response to a question about the possibility of providing more details about the Stockholm talks that were concluded on Tuesday, that the two sides must “enhance consensus” and “reduce misunderstanding”.

American and Chinese officials agreed to strive to extend the 90 -day customs duties truce, after two days, which the two sides described as constructive talks aimed at defusing a trade war between the two largest economies in the world.

Marathon discussions

The American Associated Press had indicated that the United States and China agreed to work on extending the deadline for imposing new customs duties on each other, after two days of commercial talks in Stockholm, which was concluded on Tuesday, according to the chief Chinese negotiator.

The American side confirmed that the extension was discussed, but no decision was taken. While China added that the two sides held “in -depth, frank, constructive” discussions, and they agreed to work on extending the deadline for customs duties until after the deadline set on August 12 to reach a commercial agreement for another 90 days.

The Chinese Vice -President of the State Council, Leving, who led the Chinese side, said, according to a statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, that “stable economic and commercial relations, sound and sustainable between China and the United States, not only serve the development goals of both countries, Rather, it also contributes to global economic growth and stability.

US Treasury Secretary, Scott Besent, described the talks with the Chinese delegation as “two very busy days”, and said they touched on the United States’ concerns about China’s purchase of Iranian oil, providing Russia with a double -use technology that can be used in the battlefield, and manufacturing commodities at a rate that exceeds what is borne by global demand.

Risking risk

“We need to reduce risks in some strategic industries only,” said Besent. Whether it is rare minerals, semiconductor or medications, and we talked about what we can do together to balance the relationship. ” He stressed that the United States is seeking to restore local manufacturing, secure agreements to buy agricultural products and American energy products, and reduce the trade deficit.

The last round of the talks was opened on Monday in Stockholm, in an attempt to break the stalemate about the customs tariffs that distorted the central trade relations between the two largest economies in the world. The two sides previously met in Geneva and London to address specific issues, most notably the 3 -digit customs duties, which rise to a commercial embargo and export controls on basic products, and suffocate China for rare mineral magnets, and American restrictions on semiconductors.

Discussions continued on Monday, nearly 5 hours behind closed doors in the office of Swedish Prime Minister Olf Chrisson. Prior to the resumption of the talks on Tuesday, Christmson met with Pesent and American commercial actor Jameson Ghrir at breakfast.

Summit meeting

The Stockholm talks took place at a time when US President Donald Trump is studying plans to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, a summit that could be a decisive step towards concluding any major agreements between their two countries.

“I would like to say (the meeting will be) before the end of the year.”

Trump insisted late on Monday on his “Truth” platform for social networking that he does not “seek” to hold a summit with Shi, but he may go to China at the invitation of the Chinese leader.

Pesent told reporters that the summit was not discussed in Stockholm, but they talked about “the desire of the two presidents to hold the trade team and the Treasury team trade negotiations with our Chinese counterparts.”

Ghrir added that the American team will return to Washington “and speak with the president about” extending the deadline for August, and knowing “whether that is something he wants to do.”
