Sincerely and suddenly, Israel announced partial humanitarian corridors in the Gaza Strip, two days after its withdrawal with the American mediator from the armistice negotiations in the Gaza Strip with the aim of consulting, after refusing a response from Hamas to a proposal to calm down, while waving the search for “alternative options” to restore hostages.
That human scene that Israel wants to export to the world with international pressures rejecting famine in the sector, coinciding with an American talk about “progress” in negotiations, and experts who spoke to the “Middle East” seek more fears and limited scenarios may lead to a truce if Washington wants.
In a statement, the Israeli army announced that it decided to suspend its military operation every day for ten hours in specific areas in Gaza, and would allow new corridors for aid in the Strip after the pictures of the hungry Palestinians raised the world’s concern, while the “Israeli Broadcasting Corporation” quoted one of its sources as saying that “Israel took the decision of the limited humanitarian truce due to international pressure”, without revealing the duration of that truce.
The Cairo News Channel reported, on Sunday, that the aid began to move from the Rafah border crossing from the Egyptian side towards Gaza through the Karam Abu Salem crossing, which is under Israeli control.
The relief organizations said, last week, that hunger is spreading among the 2.2 million residents of the sector with the depletion of food, while the Ministry of Health in the Strip confirmed that dozens of Gaza residents have died due to malnutrition in the past few weeks. She added that 127 people have died due to malnutrition, including 85 children, since the beginning of the war.
“Try to reduce pressure”
This Israeli decision comes two days after the American envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkeov, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced the return of their team from Doha, which has been hosting negotiations since July 6 on Gaza, with the aim of consulting, and talking about studying “alternative options” for the return of the hostages.
Simultaneously, US President Donald Trump told reporters at the White House that the movement “did not want to reach an agreement. I think (its leaders) want death, and this is very bad. It has reached a point where the mission must be completed. ”
The expert in Israeli affairs at the “Al -Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies”, Saeed Okasha, believes that the declaration of Israel on aid is an attempt to reduce international pressure on Netanyahu, likely that this step is to attract the world’s attention to a humanitarian truce, while in the scenes Israel and Washington are a wide military operation to further pressure on Hamas to accept an agreement without conditions.
Okasha explained that this humanitarian truce will promote that Israel does not target civilians, and it will be an excuse for the military operation, to end the famine card that Hamas played and received international support, and the start of additional pressure on the Palestinian movement, and that step may be among the alternatives that Washington and Israel were talking about.
This is what the Israeli Prime Minister already confirmed when he said that the United Nations should stop blameing his government for the humanitarian situation in Gaza, after the army announced the opening of safe roads to enter aid to the besieged sector.
Netanyahu added, during his inspection of an air base, on Sunday, that the United Nations “creates excuses, and says there are no safe roads.” He continued: «This is not true. There are safe ways. She has always existed, but she (today) has become official. There will be no excuses anymore. ”
Questions raised
The Palestinian political analyst specializing in “Hamas” affairs, Ibrahim Al -Madhoun, believes that “the recent Israeli behavior raises serious questions: Is it a real orientation towards the introduction of aid or mere malevolent maneuver?”
He pointed out that the Palestinian movement “does not mind any step that leads to the introduction of aid, but it remains cautious about any treachery or deception attempt, especially in light of the public threats issued by the Israeli occupation regarding the implementation of assassinations against the movement’s leaders abroad.”
Washington changed from the promise to optimism. Witkeov said, during an interview with “Fox News”, that negotiations with Hamas may “began to return to its course.”
In statements to the same channel, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed his optimism that a close agreement could be reached. He pointed out that Wittouf has been working on the file for weeks, and “great progress” has been made in the negotiations, and they are “very close” from the agreement.
On Friday, Cairo News quoted an Egyptian source that extensive contacts took place between the Egyptian and Qatari mediators to consult regarding the latest developments in the negotiations that “will resume (currently) after studying (Hamas).”
“A detailed moment”
Ghazi Hamad, a member of the “Hamas” negotiating team, confirmed in statements reported by Palestinian media, on Saturday, that the movement is working with brokers to continue the negotiations in order to reach a final ceasefire in Gaza.
Hamad expressed his hope that the negotiations will return to its “correct path” soon. He added: «No one wants to collapse the negotiations, and everyone seeks to reach an agreement; Because we are now facing a joint moment that does not allow alternatives, the war is terrible and the losses are huge, and everyone realizes that there is no choice but to stop it with a fair and fair agreement that preserves the dignity of our people ».
Okasha believes that everything is contained in light of the different American statements from the threats and withdrawals that preceded it, stressing that going to the agreement of a truce and exchanging hostages in light of these variables is not currently predicted.
On the other hand, Al -Madhoun believes that until this moment, “the American position is still vague, especially since there are additional Israeli and American statements confirming the existence of intentions to try to liberate the Israeli prisoners by force without reaching an exchange deal, which poses a real threat not only on the lives of the prisoners, but also on the negotiating path as a whole.”
He added, “What (Hamas) presented is a positive and realistic position that opens the door to the possibility of reaching a truce,” stressing that the situation is now with Israel and the American administration.
He expected Hamas to remain vigilant for all scenarios, and is ready to deal with any developments, while adhering to its basic priority, which is “stopping the war and reaching a truce that ends genocide and war.”
