The Lebanese Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, told Asharq Al -Awsat that the issue of “exclusive weapons” on the agenda of the next session of the government is “not provoking anyone.”
Salam denied the existence of differences between Lebanese officials in the file approach, stressing that he is on a “full and continuous consultation” with the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and with the Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri.
Salam was surprised by the rumors of a “Shiite opposition” of the issue, reiterating that it is “not a provocation to anyone; Rather, it is from the basis of the department’s speech to the President of the Republic, and from the core of the ministerial statement of the government, who voted for all the Shiite deputies from among the majority of a very large parliamentary that elected the president, and voted for the government with confidence twice ».
The session, which will be a starting point for re -discussion with the United States, which was presented through its envoy, Thomas Barak, is a paper of 3 basic demands; Among them is the issue of withdrawing the weapon of Hezbollah. Parliament will be a contributor to answering the slit of “reformist demands” in the Barak paper through a session held today (Thursday) to approve the “draft law regulating banking” and “judicial reform”.
In addition, Hezbollah Secretary -General Naim Qasim renewed the discussion of the file of his weapon with the Israeli withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories. Qasim criticized the American envoy, accusing him of “making a problem in the country and turning the facts.”
Qasim refused in a speech yesterday evening (Wednesday), that the ceasefire agreement withdrew on the north of Litani, and said: “We have helped the state to implement the agreement, which is exclusively in the south of Litani, and whoever links the ceasefire by withdrawing the weapon, telling him that this matter is an internal matter.”
