The catastrophe in Gaza is reminiscent of famine in Ethiopia and Bevra Arabausa

The United Nations World Food Program said today, Tuesday, that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is mentioned in the famine witnessed by Ethiopia and Beavra in Nigeria in the last century.

“This is not similar to anything we have seen in this century,” said Ross Smith, the emergency director of the World Food Program.

He added, “It reminds us of the disasters that Ethiopia and Bevra witnessed in the last century,” stressing the need for “urgent action.”

His remarks came after the “integrated phased classification of food security”, which was developed by the United Nations, issued today, that “the worst star of famine is now” in the Gaza Strip.

This observatory, in which specialized international agencies, non -governmental organizations, and local bodies, called for allowing humanitarian aid to the arrival of “immediate and without obstacles”, stressing that they are the only way to stop the “hunger and death” who quickly escalate.

“A disaster is revealed in front of our eyes in front of the TV screens,” Smith said. He added, “This is not a warning but rather an invitation to move.”

Israel, which has besieged the Gaza Strip since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, imposed a comprehensive siege on the Strip in early March and only partially reduced it in late May, which led to a severe lack of food and medicine and other basic commodities.

The integrated phase classification of food security said that its recent data shows that the “threshold of starvation” has been reached in most parts of the Gaza Strip, “noting that the number of deaths has increased.

The observatory said that its warning is not considered a new classification for famine, but rather aims to draw attention to the crisis based on the “last available evidence” until July 25.

However, the director of food security and nutrition analysis of the World Food Program, Jean -Martin Bouer, stressed that “what we see is increasing evidence that the famine is already.”

He added, “All indications are now.”
