Two unexpected withdrawals, one from the American mediator team and the other to Israel’s negotiating delegation, from negotiations that started about a month ago in Doha to discuss the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, after the Hamas movement presented its response to the mediators.
The simultaneous withdrawal opened questions about the stumbling of negotiations, but an Egyptian source confirmed on Friday, the convening of a new tour next week.
An Egyptian analyst and another Palestinian who spoke to Asharq Al -Awsat believes that this American and Israeli -agreed step will “temporarily fail” negotiations and impose difficult possible alternatives to “Hamas”, one of which is a joint escalation from Washington and the Benjamin Netanyahu government towards it, and the other to assign and accept the presentation of the lack of expansion in the request of Israeli withdrawals and the lack of demand for greater guarantees on stopping the war.
Contrary to the declared reason for the American -Israeli withdrawal of consultation, the two analysts believe that this step comes in coordination between Washington and Netanyahu to further pressure on Hamas because no new amendments are imposed or the possibility of intelligence information to reach hostages that may delay negotiations a little, and they confirmed that if negotiations come back next week, the “tour is very difficult” on the Palestinian movement.
The American envoy, Steve Whitkov, announced, on Thursday, in a publication on «X»: “We decided to return our team from Doha to conduct consultations after (Hamas), which clearly shows that she did not want to reach a ceasefire in Gaza,” shortly after the Netanyahu office announced in a statement Thursday, that “in light of Hamas’s response, the negotiation team was decided to conduct additional consultations in Israel.”
While Hamas responded, in a statement, on Thursday night – Friday, that it “is surprised by the statements of negative and the negative statements at a time when the mediators expressed their welcome and satisfaction with the constructive and positive situation in the response,” stressing “its keenness to complete the negotiations, and to engage in them in a way that contributes to overcoming obstacles and reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement.”
In an interview with the French Press Agency, a member of the political bureau of the “Hamas” movement, Bassem Naim, accused, in an interview with “French Press Agency”, on Friday, and he is destroying “in violation of the context in which the last round of negotiations took place,” adding: “He knows this completely, but it comes in the context of serving the Israeli position.”
And the change in the American -Israeli position comes after media leaks conveyed by an Israeli official to the American “Axius” website, stating that “there is an improvement in Hamas’s response, now we have something to work on it”, noting that “the new response opens the way for the continuation of negotiations”, other than the confirmation of the American mediator, Bechara Bhahbah in a post on his Facebook account, on Thursday, that “Hamas’s response was realistic Positively, Israel must enter into serious and rapid negotiations to reach a ceasefire.
Hamas responded to the current controversy, according to the Israeli newspaper “Yediot Aharonot” and a source that spoke to “Reuters” on Thursday, which includes objections to the depth of Israeli withdrawal and demanding the movement to withdraw greater and objection to the absence of a categorical commitment to stabilize the agreement and continue to stop the war.
Advisor to the “Al -Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies”, Dr. Amr Al -Shobaki, believes that these withdrawals “temporarily paralyze negotiations”, explaining that the American -Israeli position was “surprising after optimism cautioned by concluding the agreement of the past days, and it targets more pressure on Hamas to accept what is proposed, especially the lack of expansion of Israeli withdrawals from the sector and the absence of complete guarantees to stop the war.” He believes that the negotiations will take place in this vicious circle around the two dilemmas of complete withdrawal and lack of commitment to guarantees, and then the current position after cautious optimism towards concluding an agreement suddenly changed to renew the difficulties.
The Palestinian political analyst, Dr. Ayman Al -Raqab, describes the withdrawal from the American mediator as “a coup against the features of the proposal in support of the Israeli position on the maps of the withdrawal,” explaining that this American position indicates an agreement and coordination with Israel on a separation line or red for not accepting new withdrawals that disrupt the construction of the buffer city aimed at displacing the Palestinians. Al -Raqab expected that “this withdrawal will be tactical, which is a temporary paralysis without obstruction or a failure with the aim of pressure on (Hamas) in any future round.”
Indeed, between the options and alternatives still returns to negotiations next week, and the “Cairo News” satellite channel quoted, on Friday, from an Egyptian source who did not reveal its identity, as saying that “the Israeli delegation left (Doha) after receiving Hamas’s response, provided that the negotiations will resume again during the next week after studying the Hamas offer.”
While Washington and Israel talks about alternatives to a sharp tone, Netanyahu said on Friday that “Israel is now studying with its ally, alternative options for returning the hostages”, the day after Wattoukouf announced that Washington will study “other options to return the hostages”
US President Donald Trump told reporters on Friday that “(Hamas) does not want to conclude an agreement and wants to die,” adding: “We have now reached the last hostage, and they know what will happen after the restoration of the last hostage. For this reason, in particular, they did not want any agreement, “according to the French Press Agency.
Despite the language of the threat controlling Netanyahu and Tremb’s speech, the Israeli army radio announced a military official as saying that Israel will allow foreign countries to drop umbrellas to Gaza starting from Friday. An Israeli official told the French Press Agency, on Friday, that “the operations of throwing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip will resume in the coming days, in coordination with the UAE and Jordan.”
On Friday, Egypt and Qatar affirmed their continued efforts in the mediation file in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of reaching an agreement that puts an end to the war, ends the human suffering in the Strip, and guarantees the protection of civilians and the exchange of detainees and prisoners. The two countries indicated that some progress in the last three -week intensive negotiations round, which lasted for three weeks. They also confirmed that the suspension of negotiations to hold the consultations before resuming the dialogue again “is a natural matter in the context of these complex negotiations.”
The two countries called for not to be drawn into leaks circulating by some media, which they described as “attempts to reduce these efforts and influence the path of negotiating work”, stressing that “these leaks do not reflect reality and are issued by non -informed parties on the progress of negotiations.”
The two countries also called on the international media to “show responsibility and ethics of the profession of journalism, and highlight the unprecedented suffering in the sector, not to play a role in undermining efforts that seek to end the war on the sector.” In partnership with the United States of America, the two countries affirmed their commitment to completing efforts to a comprehensive ceasefire agreement in the sector.
“Reuters” on Friday quoted the Ministry of Health in Gaza estimates that more than 100 people have been starving in the Palestinian sector since Israel prevented the arrival of supplies to it last March, and in the first two weeks of July (July), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) treated 5,000 children suffering from acute malnutrition in Gaza.
Al -Shobaki believes that despite this escalation “there is an opportunity” to return to the negotiations next week, but with the collision with the two withdrawal and guarantees of the war and the possibility that we see a very difficult tour of “Hamas”, it is likely that the escalating talk about alternatives is the possibility of intelligence information to reach hostages as one of the possibilities of this sudden change in the American -Israeli position other than exerting pressure.
While the nickname will expect that all parties will return to the negotiations naturally and the dramatic changes will occur next week that lead us to an agreement despite the difficulties surrounding the talks and the possible escalation from Washington and Netanyahu, which may be among the banks of its goals the return of the assassination policy of Hamas leaders.
