The Syrian Ministry of Interior and Public Security Forces managed to dismantle armed groups in connection with Maher Al -Assad, brother of ousted President Bashar al -Assad, during a series of court security operations in Lattakia Governorate and the city of Jableh in the west Direct support from the Lebanese “Hezbollah”.
These arrests constituted a painful blow to the remnants of the former regime after the arrest of dozens of officers and leaders of those groups, following the issuance of the “National Fact Commission for the Coast’s Events” report, and about 265 of the accused who joined these armed groups were involved.
Brigadier Abdulaziz Al -Ahmad, Commander of the Internal Security in Lattakia Governorate, stated: “These armed terrorist groups are out of law and have links to the previous regime and members of the Assad family.”
He pointed out in official statements that the security operations succeeded in arresting a number of accused, including the former colonel in the Republican Guard, Malik Ali Abu Saleh, the head of what is known as the “Coast Operations Room”, and said: “The competent agencies were able to arrest the script, Suhail Ismail, who is responsible for carrying out the terrorist operations series in the Jableh area, and he was receiving direct instructions from the criminals Suhail Al -Hassan and Ghayath To destabilize the security and stability of the Syrian coast.
Brigadier Al -Ahmad stated that the security services, within 24 hours between Saturday and Sunday, managed to control and dismantle a third cell led by the so -called Maher Hussein Ali, “This accused is involved in carrying out previous attacks targeting internal security sites, and was preparing for new attacks targeting military and security sites in Lattakia Governorate.”
Brigadier Abdulaziz Al -Ahmad revealed a direct coordination between the leaders of these cells, the brother of ousted President Maher Al -Assad and the Lebanese Hezbollah, as preliminary investigations with these detainees showed that they received direct logistical support from the Hezbollah militia and other sectarian militias, to be transferred to the judiciary and tried to achieve justice.
These security campaigns come at a time when a number of regions of the Syrian coast are witnessing a security tightening and the spread of foot patrols and new checkpoints, after attacks targeting security barriers and military sites for the Syrian army, and the Ministry of Interior had announced earlier the implementation of precautionary measures in Lattakia Governorate and its affiliated city, warning of terrorist activities and suspicious movements supported by external parties without calling them.
The Syrian coast regions witnessed bloody events at the beginning of last March after armed groups launched attacks and coordinated ambushes, against the security forces in several areas whose district expanded and 1426 were killed, including 90 women, and most of them are civilians, according to the outcome announced by the report of the National Committee for Investigation and Investigation of Facts in the coast events, and the Syrian government accused the then of their so -called “remnants” of the former regime of being behind the attacks A term used to describe supporters of the ousted Bashar al -Assad regime.
The Ministry of Interior published through its official knowledge a list that included 16 accused who were involved in the events of the Syrian coast, headed by Wassim al -Assad, the cousin of the former president, and is considered one of the most prominent people involved in the drug trade and other crimes.
The security official stressed that these successive strikes of the remnants of the former regime reflect the high readiness and the constant readiness of the security services, and Brigadier Al -Ahmad concluded his speech to say: “We address every threat that affects the security of the homeland and citizens, and directing a firm message to all terrorist cells and supporters, that the hand of justice will reach them wherever they are, and we assure our people in the coast that their security and stability are a great responsibility We carry it with confidence. ”
