In a new development that reflects the complications of the Libyan political scene, the United Nations mission entered the line of conflict within the Supreme Council of State by announcing its support for the results of the session, in which Muhammad Takala was elected a new president of the council.

He thanked the UN mission for praising its election session, and considered that it “witnessed a wide presence and a great transparency; What reflects a strong will to overcome the division. ” He promised to elect a new presidential office, in the presence of 95 members, an achievement that reflects a “high national spirit”, pointing to the start of a new stage “characterized by unity and openness, with the adoption of mechanisms that guarantee everyone’s participation without exclusion.”
He affirmed the council’s commitment to contribute to creating circumstances to hold free and comprehensive elections, according to the Libyan political agreement, expressing preparation for cooperation with the international mission and partners, in a way that respects national sovereignty, and guarantees Libyan leadership of the political process.
After all the members who are absent to participate in the upcoming sessions to expand the national consensus called, the Council renewed its commitment to the legislative and consultative role, and its pledges towards the Libyan people to build the state of law and institutions
The mission had considered, in a statement, on Monday evening, that the vote in the last session took place in “natural and transparent conditions”. She said that the presence of two -thirds of the council members on Sunday’s session “reflects a wide consensus between the members to overcome the division that impeded the council’s ability to carry out its responsibilities during the past year”, and supported calls to expand the scope of this internal consensus, by involving the members who did not attend this session.
The mission congratulated the new presidency of the State Council, led by Takala, expressing its aspiration for a constructive involvement from all members of the council to break the political stagnation, and to advance the political process, and end the long -term transitional stages.
She said that she is waiting for the council to perform its duties with responsibility, as indicated in the Libyan political agreement, in line with its independent political role, the Libyans’ aspirations to end the institutional division, restore legitimacy through the elections, and contribute to the necessary reforms.

On the other hand, Khaled al -Mashri, who refuses to recognize the election of Takala as President of the Council, expressed his surprise at the statement of the mission, and considered in a statement, on Tuesday, that its description of the session of the election of Takala “lacks accuracy and contradicts the truth and reality”, and argued that the session “did not have legal legitimacy or actual consensus, in light of the boycott of more than 45 members, and its explicit violation of the provisions of the internal system For the council. ”
After he condemned this position, which he described as “unbalanced”, Al -Mashri affirmed his refusal to interfere with the mission in a judicial dispute that is still a perspective before the competent authorities, describing what was issued as “an unjustified transgression, interference that affects the independence of the Libyan judiciary, and an unacceptable bias for parties and not others.”
Al -Mashri promised the mission’s statement an attempt to block the path in front of the Libyan -Libyan solution, and to monopolize the file of the political solution in Libya, in a way that is inconsistent with the principle of neutrality and actual support for the national will.
Takala had taken advantage of his meeting with a delegation from the Council of Elders and Senate of Libya, on Monday evening, to confirm that comprehensive national reconciliation “represents the basic pillar of state building”, appreciating what he described as the pivotal role of the sages and notables in consolidating the unity of the class and promoting national stability.

For his part, the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al -Mennafi, during his meeting, on Tuesday, in Tripoli, affirmed a delegation representing the various components and segments of the Libyan people, that the doors of the presidential council are open to every responsible voice, seeking to save the country from its deep political crisis, and stressed that exceeding the state of division “requires sincere national unity, and a brave discussion that exceeds the narrow accounts towards a comprehensive national horizon.”
Al -Munafi pointed out that he received from the delegation a copy of the recommendations and proposals that were concluded by the Forum of the Dialogue and Political Reconciliation Team, which was held two days ago, which includes visions and outputs, based on popular consensus and legal and constitutional references.
On a different matter, local media monitored the moment of an armed convoy entry to the “Stability Support Agency”, to the Janzour region (west of Tripoli), coinciding with the announcement of the new president of the agency, Hassan Boukarrara, to continue working in the region commissioned by the Presidential Council.
Bouzarra on the continuation of the work of the Janzour office, all the offices of the agency and its branches, to impose security, consolidate the rule of law, and protect citizens in the city of Janzour and in various parts of the country.
