Russian Vice -President of the Council of Security, Dmitry Medvedev, warned today (Monday) that the “threats” of US President Donald Trump are pushing a war with his country, not between Russia and Ukraine. Medvedev said, in comments carried by the Russian RT TV, that Trump “should not forget that any final warning to Russia is a step towards war.” Medvedev added that Trump should realize that Russia “is not Israel, not even Iran.” The American president said earlier today that he might reduce the deadline granted to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, for a period of 50 days, to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine.

Medvedev said that the framework trade agreement reached by the European Union and the United States is “hostile to Russia”, and it was likened to an actual ban on buying oil and gas from it.
The United States and the European Union concluded a commercial agreement yesterday (Sunday), to impose 15 percent customs duties on most of the European Union commodities.
European Commission President Ursula von der Line said in a later statement that the agreement would help the European Union to get rid of Russian fossil fuels permanently in favor of American alternatives.
“The purchase of US energy products will diversify our supplies sources, and will contribute to achieving energy security in Europe,” Von der Line added. We will replace Russian gas and oil large purchases of LNG, oil and nuclear fuel from the United States. ”
Moscow has repeatedly said that the American LNG is more expensive than its Russian counterpart. The European Union, which imposed comprehensive sanctions on Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine, has been trying to buy less Russian oil and gas for a long time.
Medvedev said that Trump was “wiping the earth” in the European Union, but the agreement is not good for Russia as well.
“It is clear that (the agreement) is hostile to Russia by nature, because it prohibits the purchase of our oil and our gas.”
He expected the repercussions on Europe and its citizens will be destroyed, because they would have to pay more money in exchange for energy. He added, “We can only feel sorry for the ordinary Europeans.”
